200,287 MW is the capacity of electricity generation in India. It seems a huge number making people think that it is a satisfactory number to cater to the needs of entire India. But still it is short of the actual demand which is approximately 750 billion KWH to light up every household in India.
Out of the total generation maximum comes from Thermal power at 132,013 MW followed by 38,991 MW from Hydel units, 4,780 MW from nuclear and 24,503 MW from Renewable Energy Sector. It clearly states the lack of use of renewable energy particularly solar energy with renewable energy counting to only 12.23% of total electricity generation in India when there is abundance of Solar Energy in India.
According to various stats sometime between 2010 and 2020 the world’s supply of oil and gas will fall below the level required to meet the international demand. Hence a need for renewable energy resources for power and nothing is better than free energy – “Solar Energy”.
Then the question to ask ourselves is WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT IT…???
